West Palm Beach Uninsured Motorist Claim Settles for $25,000

On April 9, 1996, a concrete finisher was operating a 1988 Chevy pick-up truck for his employer on Okeechobee Boulevard in W. Palm Beach, Florida, when he was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. Another driver reportedly moved into a middle lane, causing a third vehicle to lose control and strike the rear of the plaintiff's truck.

The plaintiff subsequently filed a claim under their uninsured motorist policy against the defendant insurer. During the proceedings, the plaintiff presented expert testimony from an orthopedic surgeon, an economist, and a vocational rehabilitation specialist. The defendant presented testimony from a radiologist, indicating a dispute over the extent of the plaintiff's alleged injuries and damages.

The two drivers involved in the initial collision settled with the plaintiff for $50,000 and $10,000, respectively. The defendant insurance company offered $25,000 to resolve the uninsured motorist claim.
