Harris County Court Awards $14,050 in Tax Lien Foreclosure

In September 2017, Harris County, along with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, Harris County Emergency Services District #09, Lone Star College System District, and Harris County Municipal Utility District #167, filed a lawsuit in Harris County, Texas. The taxing units sought to recover delinquent ad valorem taxes on a property located in Harris County, alleging the defendant owned or claimed an interest in the property during the tax years in question. They asserted legal liens on the property and requested foreclosure of these liens, a personal judgment against the defendant, and an order for the property to be sold at public auction.

A final judgment was entered in March 2018, ordering foreclosure of the tax liens against the property and its sale. The court awarded the taxing units a total of $14,050, which included delinquent taxes, penalties, interest, attorney fees, and other costs such as title research and service of process fees.
