Gwinnett County Jury Awards $20,000 in Motor Vehicle Negligence

In August 2017, a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchant's Way in Gwinnett County. The plaintiff's vehicle was struck by the defendant's vehicle, which allegedly failed to yield while turning left. The Gwinnett County Police Department cited the defendant for failure to yield and determined the defendant was at fault for the incident.

The plaintiff filed a complaint in April 2019, alleging the defendant drove negligently, failed to make reasonable observations, and drove without due care. The plaintiff sought general damages, special damages including medical expenses exceeding $13,500, and compensation for pain and suffering. The defendant admitted breaching a duty that contributed to the incident but maintained insufficient information to form a belief regarding the extent and causation of the plaintiff's alleged injuries and damages.

The case proceeded to a jury trial. In January 2022, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff. Court records from August 2022 indicated the plaintiff was awarded $20,000 in general damages. The case concluded as a "Plaintiff Win" by jury verdict.
